How to Make Lip Gloss

If you want to use lip gloss that you can be sure is not tested on animals, and which has only safe and healthy ingredients in it, simply make it yourself. You need only a hot plate for warming candles, some beeswax, an oil of your choice and flavoring if you want it. You also need containers for your finished lip gloss.
First: Setup
Purchase a hot plate if you do not already have one. You can find one at most department stores for less than ten dollars. Plug it in and put a glass jar on the hot plate. Put some beeswax in the jar. While it melts, add some oil. Many people like the feel and scent of jojoba oil and coconut oil. Feel free to mix oils as well to achieve the perfect combination of texture and smell. Allow the mixture to melt together.
Second: Checking your gloss
To check your lip gloss, take out a drop or two on a spoon and stick it in the freezer for a few minutes. Once it hardens, take it out and see if you like the way it feels on your fingertip and lip. Does it smell right? If not, go back to your candle warmer and tweak the mixture until you like it. More oil makes the gloss more slippery and liquid. More beeswax makes it more solid and difficult to apply. Keep these things in mind as you make changes to the scent or flavor of your lip gloss.
